6 Months!

The babies are getting some personality but still like to switch things up on me.  They probably do this so there is no favorites!  They are getting more interactive with each other.  They hold and suck each other’s hands.  But they don’t last long by each other before one is crying because of being hit.  They did well at this Dr appointment and were healthy little guys.  We started them on solids about the beginning of February.  Owen took right to it and has never looked back.  It took Griffen about 2 weeks before he finally caved and decided it was ok.  Now, they can’t get enough of it!  They got all shots and hated them like usual.  I had all 4 kids with me and it was so nice to have Oaklee there to hold the one that had the shots while I assisted in helping the other baby.  The home nurse has been coming on the months they don’t have a Dr appointment.  She came in January (they were in the beginning stages of croup).  They were doing well on development stuff.

Owen:
Weight: 16 lbs 2 oz-20%
Height 25 inches-5%
Head Circumference: 41.2
Owen has sure got to be a big boy.  I’m not sure what happened!  He doesn’t really eat that much more than Griffen especially the last 3 months.  They really eat the same amount.  His reflux has gotten so much better.  It’s been more mild since starting on solids.  He’ll have an occasional spit up but nothing like he used to.  He’s quite the growler.  He learned this growl and uses it for different attitudes!  He’s pretty mild and flexible.

*Size 2 diapers
*3-6 month clothes, 6-9 Jammies and some pants
*Eats solids 2 times a day with a 3-5 oz bottle, a 2 7 oz bottles (one being bedtime)
*Sleep has gotten worse the past 2-3 weeks.  Eat at 10:30-11:30 wake up at 6 for a binkie then fuss at 7:15 to up not necessarily wanting to eat
*Going to try sleeping in crib tonight and see if that helps him sleep better (probably not as he'll be sharing the crib)
*Loves the swing, jumper, and the play mat
*Loves toys and silk tags and brings everything to the mouth
*Rolled from tummy to back at 4 months and then back to tummy at about 5 months
*Still content being on his own and not being held.  Will soothe with a binkie and swing.
*Takes the binkie better now and has stopped sucking on fingers and thumb as much
*Starting to look like Wyatt’s 6 month baby pictures
*Sits up for about 30 seconds by himself
*Loves solids…seems to prefer it over the bottle
*Laughs when getting diaper changed
*Moves around a lot on his belly...I don't think it'll be too long before he scoots
*Cries when he sees me leave the room
*Mommy's boy...seems to prefer me over others

Griffen:
Weight:13 lbs 12 oz-0%
Height:25 inches-0% -Weird that he's the same length as Owen yet his height is not on the chart
Head Circumference-41.5

Griffen seems to have multiple personalities.  He's very unpredictable.  He's always been more fussy but does seem to soothe down easily.  He seems harder to entertain and wants to be held or being interacted with.  He sleeps better than Owen at night (not the last 2 nights he's fussed between 3-4 am multiple times.  By the 4-5th time of inserting binkie goes back to sleep until 8:15).

*Size 2 diapers
*Size 3-6 clothes
*Eats solids 2 times a day with a 3-5 oz bottle, a 7 oz bottle, and a 4-5 oz bedtime bottle
*Sleeps well during the night but only cat naps during the day.  Eat at 10:30-11:30 and sleeps until 8:15.  Occasionally (as stated above) he'll get whiney for a binky between 3-5 am.
*Going to try sleeping in crib tonight and see if it helps him sleep better (probably not as he'll be in there with Owen)
*Not swaddled anymore...I found him rolling last week while being swaddled.  Since then he sleeps on his side
*Rolls from back to tummy, at about 5 months, but I've yet to see him go tummy to back.  If he gets to his tummy he'll just cry and lay his head down
*Loves the binkie and takes it all the time but has learned to take it in and out and chew/play with it
*Plays with toys but prefers the links
*Loves the swing but doesn't seem to care for the jumper or play mat for long periods like Owen
*Laughs when getting his diaper changed
*Doesn't seem to have a preference on a person...just anyone willing to hold him
*Cries when I leave the room
*I don't think he looks like any of the kids at this age.  All the other kids were chunky faced (big cheeks) and filled out at this stage.

I've got to remind myself that I do in fact have twins.  It doesn't seem real that they are twins.  Just that I'm caring for 2 babies.  As much work as they are it's getting tougher to realize we're done and there are no more baby firsts.  I'm trying to soak them up more but being a mom to 3 others is demanding mixed with house chores.  I figure if I can get all my chores done by Wednesday night, I have the rest of the week to be free to give my attention to the kids.  Easier said than done!  They've been a sacrifice in more ways than I like to admit but I know they have a purpose being here at this time.  I'm learning to understand that and let go of what was and love what's now.

Oaklee is 5!

You know you're getting old when you have a child getting baptized and another starting school in the same year.  It's crazy to think that Oaklee came into my life 5 years ago and that I've been staying home these past 5 years.  Oaklee and I have always had a strong bond and I need to be better at strengthening that bond again.  She is seriously such a big help and I'm so thankful for her.  I'm trying better to let her be independent and do things herself.  And trying to show her more love and appreciation.  I really want to focus more on her and Wyatt and get them to know of my love for them.  They get more neglected and get the wrath more than they should (thanks to hormones and raising 5 littles).
Oaklee is doing preschool online.  She doesn't love it and has been harder and harder to get her to focus and do it.  I'm thinking she will need to start doing it in the morning before any activity.  She has learned from it and I'm very thankful we've been able to be in the program.  She has a very good imagination and plays lots.  She can make believe and give her objects and they become real and converse.  She has a love for Youtube videos and Netflix.  But, doesn't do well with movies.  Odd, I know.  I've been needing to limit her use on the Ipad because she could be on it for hours on end.  She's really good to put it away the minute I ask her to.  She has a bond with the twins that sometimes I don't even think I have!  She loves them so much and tells them constantly.  She loves on them and plays with them.  She loves that they are more interactive and can play.  Oaklee loves Sawyer and they get along great as long as nobody is tired!  She gets bored when Sawyer is napping.  They play well together and Oaklee does so good at including her.  She is going to be a good mommy and has that mommy gene fierce!  She loves doing projects and crafts.  It's starting to hit me that she'll be leaving me alone with 3 littles in 5 months.  I'm not quite ready for that.  I'm glad it's only a few hours because I'm not sure I'll manage without her.  I want to get her riding her bike without training wheels.  It's on my agenda for these nice spring days.  She loves being outside too.

For her birthday we celebrated with Kyle's family with dinner and presents after.  We didn't do it at our house since we were also celebrating Kyle and Clif's birthdays.  On her actual birthday it was a typical Monday.  I'm bad and I can't even remember what she chose for food that day.  I think it was Blueberry bread for breakfast, corn dog lunch, and ziti.  We didn't celebrate with an activity besides her and I going to the store and picking out her dessert (cupcones).

Christmas

Didn' realize I was so far behind.  Christmas was different.  Everything felt weird and off.  I think it was the move and all the changes.  I'm hoping this year will be better now that it's starting to sink in that this is home.  We didn't do too much festive stuff because survival has been the bare minimum we can do.  We did go to Aspen's preschool show, pictures and meeting Santa, and the annual parties.  On Christmas Eve we got Chili's to go and baked and frosted cookies.  The kids opened up their new jammies (Owen's didn't fit) and off to bed with to watch their new movie.  This year was a fast year getting things ready for once!  Christmas morning the kids woke up I think between 7:30-8.  They had to wait until the babies were fed to go downstairs.  They hated that but were pretty good.  Kyle tried to keep their interest by breakfast.  We opened our gifts and shortly after Grandma and Grandpa Read came to the house to see what they got.  They were here 10 minutes and then they left.  It was then time to go to my parent's house.  We got there a little later than planned but still beat everyone there.  It was different this year as there were only 3 families.  It felt to quite and less chaotic.  Very unusual for an Allen gathering!  We stayed there for an hour or so then to the Read's.  Since we had already done gifts, we got to enjoy dinner and company.  We didn't stay too late as we were babysitting the next morning.
